Burgas Museum and its employees in the pages of the New York Times Travel

Burgas Museum and its employees received a pleasant surprise few days ago, when they appeared in the pages of the New York Times Travel. Without knowing it would land into the travelogue of an American journalist in Bulgaria, on July 11, they met another English-speaking tourists with a large suitcase and a big smile.

On his way to the Black Sea, Frugal Traveler columnist Lucas Peterson stops through Haskovo, Bulgaria to attend the wedding of his cousin, Matthew Kwan, to Haskovo native Tanya Todorova.
Decided to combine the pleasant with the useful, he collected impressions of his trip around Bulgaria on a very economical budget. Once back to the US, Lucas wrote an article for the prestigious media sharing experiences and best moments in Bulgaria.
His travelogue is published under the title "By Bulgaria's Beautiful Black Sea".



When his journey came to Burgas, it goes through the Burgas museums. He wrote:

The archaeological museum in Burgas contains some fascinating Bronze Age artifacts, including the oldest marble statue found in Bulgaria. (Admission to the museum is 5 lev, and it’s only 10 lev for a combination ticket to visit all four museums in town.)
While I found few English speakers in Bulgaria generally, a woman working at the museum spoke some, and kindly walked me around town to show me the locations of the other museums. Most signage in Burgas is in Bulgarian, which uses the Cyrillic alphabet. Many businesses, however, especially those that cater to tourists, offer translations.
