Paleo-meeting with an exhibition expecte fossils lovers in the Burgas Museum of Natural History on May 30 and 31

On May 30 and 31 from 10:00 to 19:00 in the Natural History Museum of Burgas, "Paleomeeting - exhibition" will offer an opportunity to exchange and / or purchase fossils samples.[shrink]

The upcoming exhibition and meeting of amateur paleontologists is a continuation of the efforts of the museum specialists in Burgas to establish a collection and a permanent exhibition "Fossils", which opened in the Night of Museums - May 16th.

So far the amateur paleontology in Bulgaria is tolerated by scientific institutions but with reservations. Fears that valuable finds could be ruined by amateurs or could "sink" in private collections, are among the main arguments "against". On the other hand, the institutional paleontology has no means of regular field studies and countless artifacts are reduced gradually from the destructive forces of nature.

The upcoming exhibition at the Natural History Museum in Burgas will be the first of its kind in Bulgaria reconciling the interests of the museum with those of amateur paleontologists. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their most interesting findings, to share information and samples. Visitors will be able to touch the remains of long-lived animals and plants and learn more about them.
Among them are giant fossilized snails and mussels from the Burgas district Kraimorie.

The co-organizers from club "Amateur Paleontology in Bulgaria" Varna hope that this first ever short exhibition in Bulgaria, will launch amateur exhibitions of fossils in museums across the country.

Natural History Museum offers promotional prices for the Paleoweekend: entrance fee to visit the joint exhibition is 2 BGN for adults and free for children.
