Shrove Monday is known as "clean" or "pesi" Monday.
The Bulgarian woman clean and arranged her house in order to purify her thoughts, to overcome chaos and sort her world. A day is called also "pesi" because it celebrate the health of domestic dogs.
Up to the 50s and 60s of the twentieth century, in the Bulgarian villages and towns during the week between Sirnitsa and St.Theodore's day children dress up and visited the villager's homes. The hosts welcomed them with great joy and feast them generously. This is our Bulgarian version of Halloween.
Students from 3 Burgas' schools will show their unique masks and homemade costumes at the carnival hosted in the Ethnographic complex in Burgas.

We will expect you in Brakalov`s house (Ethnographic Exposition, Burgas, Slavyanska St. 69), dressed in your Halloween costumes.
Here you will learn more about the Bulgarian Carnival.
