Why is John the Baptist "the greatest man born of a woman", find out this Saturday at the Ethnographic Museum of Burgas

"St. John the Baptist - The Voice of the Caller in the Desert" is the title of the first lecture at the Burgas Museum for 2019. It will be held this Saturday (26.01) at 11:30 h. with a new venue - the presentation hall of the Ethnographic Museum (Burgas, 69 Slavyanska Str., behind St. Cyril and St. Methodius Church).

For the life of the holy Baptist will speak Ivanka Deleva - chief curator of the Historical Exposition at RHM-Burgas and a specialist in the history of Orthodox Christianity. "The strict abstinence of Saint John the Baptist served as example for the greatest Christian pilgrims, and his bold death inspired all the martyrs during the persecution of the Christian faith. Many people gathered to hear the words of the saint, and even today his image and personality provoke us." the Burgas historian announced.
In the saint's life, it is said that when Jesus Christ went to him and asked to be baptized in the Jordan River, the prophet refused initially with the words, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" But Jesus knew that John was "the greatest man born of a woman," and insisted that he be his Baptist.

The entrance fee for educational lectures in the museum is preferential. The price for adults is BGN 2, and for students and pensioners - BGN 1.
