A team of RHM Burgas headed by Milen Nikolov resumed the archaeological excavations of the rich Roman villa discovered first in 2013. It is situated on the west coast of the peninsula Foros near the Burgas district Kraimorie. This summer, the efforts of the archaeologists will focus on expanding the perimeter around the main part of the building in order to clarify the overall architectural planning of the villa.

The Roman building is part of the great archaeological complex of Poros, including fortress wall, residential quarters, administrative and port buildings, Episcopal basilica and necropolis.

As a result of the archaeological excavations carried out in previous years, it is established that the Roman villa was built in the first half of the 3rd century AD. Until now four rooms have been revealed, all of which are equipped with hypocaust - ancient heating system beneath the floor of the building in which is circulating heated air.

Archaeologists are convinced that the researched Roman villa was very luxurious for its time. This was proved by the discovered marble tiles and window frames in different formats, and remnants of fine plaster in the so called "Pompeian red" - the color used on the richest buildings of the legendary Roman city Pompeii in Italy.

In 2015 the rescue archaeological surveys on Peninsula Foros is entirely financed by Burgas Municipality.
