The profession of archaeologist is a dream for many people, especially children. For them it is shrouded in mystique of the unknown, adventure to touch the ancient knowledge and luck to find a priceless artifact. But all this involves a lot of digging, coordination of a team and systematically follow a specific methodology of work.

The work of archaeologists you can see live by visiting the ancient and medieval site Aquae Calidae near the Burgas Mineral Baths in the coming days. The eponymous tourist complex offers specially built atrium where you can sit and watch the excavation of an ancient bath in safety. For the convenience of visitors next to the outdoor archaeological exposition works a coffee, and in the restored building of the bathroom of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, can learn more about the area's history from the interactive 3D projection on the beautiful dome.

At present the archaeological research in Aquae Calidae continues in the northern part of the site, which is designated for a museum. The excavations are conducted by Regional Historical Museum Burgas and are led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimcho Momtchilov of University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" Burgas, deputy head Miroslav Klasnakov from RHM Burgas and Yavor Rusev from RHM Yambol.
The team is examining the burned layers from IV-VI century at the depth of 4-6 meters from the current level. They are finding mainly pottery and coins from the time of Constantine the Great - the first Christian emperor.
