International project for digitization of Cultural heritage brings together Burgas institutions

Kick off meeting was held in the Burgas Free University, in connection with the implementation of the international Project "digital presentation and safeguarding of intangible Cultural Heritage" (DigiCult). It is part of the EU's Erasmus + programme, key activity 2 strategic partnerships and unites eight organisations from Bulgaria, Latvia, Italy and Greece.

The activities of the Bulgarian side will be carried out jointly by the Burgas Free University and the regional Museum of History Burgas, as the project unites the spheres of culture, information technology and education. DigiCult aims to promote and support the processes related to the digital presentation, preservation and promotion of Europe's intangible cultural heritage globally and in the long term. The aim is to develop standards for digitisation and a framework for the implementation of flexible training of employees in the cultural industry.

Digitize The intangible heritage is a key activity for museum specialists, but it requires additional knowledge and resources, which the project will identify and channel. The project is managed by Burgas Free University, and the team will be coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanislav Zhelev.
