The relics were found during excavations near the ruins of the medieval monastery "St. John the Baptist". It is assumed that in the 4th century the relics were transferred to the island monastery near Sozopol directly from the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Now the relics are kept in the church "St. Cyril and Methodius" at the city center of Sozopol and can be viewed for pilgrims every Sunday.
