Ethno martenitsas 2012: Ethnographic Museum Burgas strikes back

Ethnographic Museum Burgas is preparing to welcome Baba Marta (Granny Marta). The heavy blankets and rugs have been beaten out on the sun, everything is clean and tidy, because as the tradition says for the 1st of March the Bulgarian woman thoroughly cleans her house, takes the rubbish away, burns the old broom in the yard and so invites home the new and better.
You can find handmade authentic martenitsas on our museum stand. Each martenitsa is different, but contains the binding elements: symbols for health, strength and long life; to prevent the evil eye and mischief forces; for fertility and prosperity.
