Join us once again on March 1st at 11:00 for announcement of the competition results "Martenitsa in the traditional Bulgarian culture" as well as opening of the traditional Martenitsa exhibition at Ethnographic Museum Burgas and dive into the festive atmosphere of this old Bulgarian custom marking the beginning of spring. Organizers are the Municipality of Burgas Regional Historical Museum - Burgas and Children's Complex.
The competition is held for the thirteenth consecutive year, but for the first time the participants are so active and we are proud to present 50 original collective works in the museum main hall.
Granny Marta herself (with the size of a small old lady) will attend the celebration. For permanent cheerful mood all-through the year you will have to touch the special magic tree. With two large white-red brooms we will sweep away everything old, gloomy and sad and welcome the upcoming better.
You are welcome to come and join the celebration!

Happy First of March!
People believed that on this day the cold weather goes forty meters underground. Early in the morning lads and lasses go out with eyes closed, bring bread, silver or gold and hope when they open their eyes to see a bird as a sign of happiness.
On March 1st, people should not make bread, sew or hang out white clothes to avoid the fall of frost and hail.
If on March 1st it rains or blows warm wind, the whole year will be good and fertile.
We wish you cheerful and sunny holiday! And let our hopes come true for better spring times!
