Program of the Ethnographic Museum Burgas for IFF 2011, 22-26 August 2011

Regional Historical Museum Burgas traditionally participates in the supporting program of the International Folk Festival. At the Ethnographic Museum we set up a presentation of traditional Bulgarian crafts for the participants and guests of the festival.
Following the mission to present Bulgarian rites, traditional culture and crafts, this year the museum has organized the exhibition "Spring-summer rituals in Burgas region," which includes "Nestinarstvo" from the village of Bulgari – recognized as living cultural heritage of UNESCO, "Enyova bulya" from the village Fakia (Strandzha Mountain) and "Peperuda" from the village Lyulyakovo (Eastern Balkan Mountains).

On August 22nd, at 14:00 we would like to invite you to join the Bulgarian craftsmen in the yard of the Ethnographic Museum (Burgas, 69 Slavyanska St.), where two original exhibitions will be open for the public.

Mrs. Bonka Kancheva participates with her exhibition "Fairtale braids", which is bringing together a collection of decorative wall panels and mummer masks created with traditional techniques using colourful braids. Bonka Kancheva is a member of the community "Bulgarian master". Her exhibitions have been displayed in the ethnographic complex "Etara" - Gabrovo, at the National Palace of Culture Sofia and craft exhibitions in Hungary, Slovakia and others. The author will be demonstrating original techniques for braids making.
Mrs.Daniela Voynova will demonstrate her talent to recreate patterns of the national tradition on leather.
