Scientists gather in Burgas on Strandzha cultural heritage issues

On September 28-29, 2019 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Burgas Art Gallery "Petko Zadgorski", an International Scientific Conference "Strandzha Cultural Heritage - Wealth, Risks, Challenges" will be held. It will include more than 20 scientists from Bulgaria, Greece and Norway.

The first day of the conference will present scientific reports on the history of Strandzha in the period of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, archaeological researches in the region, iconic and manuscript-documentary resources of the Strandzha region, the non-traditional tradition in Bulgaria and in Greece.

On the second day of the conference, a roundtable will be held on "Strandzha's Cultural Heritage - Diagnosis, Problems, Policies". The problems accumulated in the region in the preservation of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the region will be discussed by the scientists together with representatives of the Ministry of Culture, NINCN, the Regional Administration - Burgas, local municipalities and mayoralties, museums, the Sliven Metropolis and others.

The Forum is organized and implemented within the framework of the Fundamental Research Project "Comprehensive and Innovative Methods for the Diagnostics and Investigation of the Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Central and Eastern Strandzha in Migration and Demographic Reflux", funded by the Research Fund at Ministry of Education and Science (contract No DN-10/16 of 21 December 2016). The event is organized by Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski "in partnership with the Regional Museum of History - Burgas and the Burgas Art Gallery" Petko Zadgorski ".
