Roundtable on the protection of cultural heritage in the Burgas region gathered representatives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, museums and administration

Emphasis in the program of the roundtable was the digitization of museum collections with a focus on prevention of criminal offenses. Short presentations were made by Yani Tolev - head of Department "X-ray systems" in Customs Burgas, Nikolai Stoilkov - Head "Economic Police" in RDIA Burgas, Milen Nikolov - Director of RHM Burgas, Asen Petrov from CDCOC Burgas, prof. P Pavlov and Dr. Detelin Luchev from the Institute of mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The role of innovative technologies for the protection of cultural heritage is the subject that united the participants in the second part of the discussion. It was presented by Dr. Zhelev Yanislav of Burgas Free University and Radosveta Stewart from Regional Historical Museum Burgas. Moderator of the event was Prof. Sevdalina Turmanova - Deputy Regional Governor of Burgas.

Regional Academic Center - Burgas and Regional Historical Museum Burgas invite you on October 11, 2016, / Tuesday / at 10:30 am in Cultural Center Sea Casino to take part in regional roundtable "Innovative technologies for the preservation of cultural heritage" with a focus on the institutions responsible for its conservation in the Burgas region.

The event will be attended by specialists from RDMI, Customs Burgas, CDCOC, Institute of Informatics and Mathematics Academy of Sciences, RHM Burgas and others. They will give short presentations, after which discussion will be held.

Exhibition in the Ethnographic Museum presents the diversity of Bulgarian aprons

One of the oldest and unchanging parts for Bulgarian folk female costume is the apron. It is a mandatory part of the traditional clothing. Full costume is impossible without an apron. This element is a convincing evidence of the ethnical culture of the population from different corners of the Bulgarian lands, which had a different historical destiny.

Nikolina Mancheva and community center "Hristo Botev 1928" from the village of Podvis, Municipality Sungurlare, have arranged an exhibition of aprons on the first floor of the Ethnographic Museum in Burgas. The colorful aprons are collected from all over Bulgaria, demonstrating the diversity of details and materials. Emphasis is placed on the skirts of the Bulgarians from Sungurlare and Karnobat.

The opening will take place on 12.10.2016 / Wednesday / at 16:00 in the Ethnographic Museum (Burgas, Ul. Slavyanska 69). Welcome!

Students from school "GS Rakovski" Burgas in the Ethnographic Museum for a project from Erasmus+

On October 4 students and their teachers from Luxembourg, France, Spain, Italy and Bulgaria visited the Ethnographic Museum and got acquainted with the Bulgarian customs, authentic traditional costumes of all ethnographic groups in Burgas region. Students from School Profiled for Romance languages ​​"G.S. Rakovski" Burgas prepared a short program with French, Italian, Spanish and Bulgarian songs and presented attractively review of theatrical costumes from the early 20th century. The event is part of the European educational project Erasmus+ "The partnership between generations - ensuring a better success rate".

From October 1, 2016, all four expositions of the Regional Historical Museum - Burgas switch to winter working time and will be open to visitors as follows:

Tuesday - Saturday
From 09:00 to 17:00

Sunday - Monday
Closed

Due wide interest in the exhibition "Malaya Pereshchepina treasure" and "The Lukovit treasure" in the Archaeological Museum (Burgas, 21 Bogoridi St.), they will remain in Burgas until the end of October.

In the Historical Museum (Burgas, 31 Lermontov St.) visitors can learn more about the work of the holy brothers by visiting exhibition "Cyril and Methodius concept in Orthodox Christianity" until 30 October.

In the Ethnographic Museum (Burgas, 69 Slavyanska St.), the exhibition "Wood comes to life - zoomorphic motives in artistic woodworking from Troyan" can be seen for the last week. From October 12 on the first floor of the museum will be presented colorful samples of bibs from Karnobat and Sungurlare area.

Natural History Museum (Burgas, 30 K.Fotinov St.) remains closed due to repairs.

Historical museum Burgas received a donation of officer uniforms

Long-awaited donation of military uniforms arrived in RHM Burgas after several years of campaign for recruiting materials related to the Bulgarian army!

Mrs. Petya Karabinova donated to the Historical exposition 2 officers uniforms of the Bulgarian People's Army, 8 commemorative medals and badges that belonged to her father Major Yordan Kolev.

The Ethnographic exposition received a large wooden box, carpets and rugs that will complement the traditional interior.

Regional Historical Museum Burgas and Regional academic center - Burgas invite everyone on September 20, 2016, (Tuesday) at 16:30, in the Historical Museum (Burgas, ul. Lermontov 31) to participate in an open lecture by Ch. Assist. Prof. Dr. Iveta Rasheva from Cyril and Methodius Research Center at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (CMRC).
The official opening of the guest exhibition "Cyril and Methodius concept in Orthodox Christianity" will begin at 17:30. The exhibition is designed by CMRC for a conference on the same topic, held within the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria. It consists of 12 large canvases that show the connection of Eastern Orthodoxy with St. Cyril and Methodius.

The exhibition is in Burgas at the invitation of Regional academic center Burgas for the European Heritage Days, where is stationed the newest permanent exhibition of RHM Burgas - "Wall of letters."

The Historical and Ethnographic expositions of Regional Historical Museum Burgas will join the European Heritage Days 15-18 September 2016

On the first day of the initiative, the Historical Museum (31 Lermontov St.), in cooperation with the Regional Centre of BAS in Burgas, will present the exhibition "Cyril and Methodius' concept in Orthodox Christianity." It was created by the Cyril and Methodius Research Center at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences on the occasion of 1150th anniversary of the Slavic alphabet and the Great Moravian mission of St. Cyril and Methodius. Presented are photocopies of medieval manuscripts, icons, prints, engravings and contemporary books bearing centuries of literary and cultural tradition established by the holy brothers. The exhibition will complement the exposition on writing systems in the museum. Citizens and guests of the city will see it for free on 15, 16 and 17 September.

On Sunday, September 18, visitors can explore free of charge the Ethnographic Museum (ul. Slavyanska 69), where to the end of the month can be visited the exhibition "Wood comes to life - zoomorphic motives in artistic woodworking from Troyan".

Every year more than 20 million people enjoy access to thousands of rarely opened sites and unique events as part of European Heritage Days, which take place every September in 50 countries across Europe. This locally-led initiative is supported by the European Commission and the Council of Europe.
Launched in 1985, the European Heritage Days have been organised since 1999 as a joint initiative of the European Union and the Council of Europe, in close cooperation with the group of national coordinators.
