The project "TOGETHER: The General Cultural Heritage without Borders" received approval for funding. It is prepared jointly by the Regional Historical Museum - Burgas and Regional Directorate for Culture and Tourism - Kırklareli, and the total budget is nearly half a million euro.
The news came after the third meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Cross Border Cooperation Programme INTERREG - Bulgaria - Turkey IPA 2014 - 2020, the approval of projects proposed for funding. 195 proposals for the invitation had a positive assessment of administrative compliance and eligibility received 116 project. A total of 39 projects passed evaluation of technical conformity and quality and were pre-approved for financing by the JMC.
The project of Burgas - Kırklareli is aimed at improving capacities in the field of culture and tourism in the border region through greater investment in important improvements in 2 key tourist sites - Aquae Kalide - Terma in Burgas mineral baths and rock monastery St. Nicholas - Kaikyoy. Both sites are strategic for tourism in the border region and increasing their attractiveness, facilitating access and promotion through the introduction of modern information and communication technologies will contribute to the preservation of the common cultural heritage.
Key project activities on the Bulgarian side are the second stage of conservation and restoration of archaeological site Late ancient and medieval fortress Aquae calidae - Terma. The Turkish side will begin reconstruction of the road access to the cultural and historical site near St. Nicholas Monastery Kaikyoy.
The project will end with organized international scientific conference, for which will be invited experts in archaeology, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
2008 Regional Historical Museum Burgas studies systematically Aquae calidae, which is the largest archaeological site in the municipality of Burgas.
Regional History Museum Burgas will participate in "Father's Day 2016" - part of the national campaign "Being a father" of ten Bulgarian NGOs, united to promote the active participation of men in child care.
Committed to the campaign and to encourage Bulgarian fathers to spend more time with their children, from 8th to the 10th November 2016, the expositions of Burgas Museum - Archaeological, Historical and Ethnographic will work with 50% discount on tickets for visit of fathers with children. This means that for children over 7 years the ticket will be 1 BGN and for the father - 2.5 BGN, children under 7 years - free of charge.
Students from the Burgas School "N. Vaptsarov " celebrated in an unconventional way November 1. Together with the Regional History Museum Burgas discussed the subject "Spiritual Leaders - the bridge between generations." Everyone felt in the era of the old literary schools and the first educators and revolutionaries who devoted their life to the awakening of the Bulgarian spirit and consciousness.
On 03.11.2016 students from the schools "Hristo Botev" - village Marinka, "Vasil Levski" - Gorno Ezerovo, "Ivan Vazov" - Banevo and "Vasil Levski" - Balgarovo, visited the Historical Museum in the Burgas as part of the project "Integrated approach to achieve significant and sustainable results in the educational integration of students from ethnic minorities in the municipality of Burgas".
Regional historical museum Burgas expresses sincere thanks to the artist Mitko Ivanov, who responded to the call of public institution to save endangered icons from the museum collection. He specializes in the field of iconography for decades and completely gratuitous accepted the challenge to restore one of the icons in the worst condition - "St. Mary". It is significantly burned with damaged painting layer. After skillful intervention, the image of the Virgin returned its luster and dignity. The restored icon will be given a special place in the exposition of the Historical Museum.
Initiative of RHM Burgas for the restoration of priceless icons continues as currently more than 20 works of Orthodox art from the museum collection need attention. Anyone wishing to support this noble cause can turn to RHM Burgas.

On October 21 (Friday) at 16:00, the specialists from RHM Burgas Milena Damaskova and Ivan Arabadziev organize workshop "The Story of Ceramics". It will be conducted jointly with students from 7th grade in the Burgas school "Cyril and Methodius" during external hour of Fine Arts.
On 12.10.2016, the Ethnographic exposition of RHM Burgas (69 Slavyanska St.) opened the original exhibition "Bulgarian aprons". 45 aprons reveal the dexterity of Bulgarian women from different corners of Bulgaria - Karnobat, Pleven, Smolyan, Bansko, Burgas, Velingrad. Author of the exhibition is Nikolina Mancheva from the village of Podvis, connoisseur and guardian of Bulgarian traditions together with folklore group from Community Center "Hristo Botev - 1928".
The exhibition can be viewed until the end of November on the 1st floor of the museum.
Emphasis in the program of the roundtable was the digitization of museum collections with a focus on prevention of criminal offenses. Short presentations were made by Yani Tolev - head of Department "X-ray systems" in Customs Burgas, Nikolai Stoilkov - Head "Economic Police" in RDIA Burgas, Milen Nikolov - Director of RHM Burgas, Asen Petrov from CDCOC Burgas, prof. P Pavlov and Dr. Detelin Luchev from the Institute of mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The role of innovative technologies for the protection of cultural heritage is the subject that united the participants in the second part of the discussion. It was presented by Dr. Zhelev Yanislav of Burgas Free University and Radosveta Stewart from Regional Historical Museum Burgas. Moderator of the event was Prof. Sevdalina Turmanova - Deputy Regional Governor of Burgas.
