We part of the basis of the European civilization
Monday, 01 Aug 2016 - Historical Museum

Every day we do a bunch of things you do not think about: where they come from, the result of whose efforts are they, what they offer. We used to accept these things around us for granted - objects, events, achievements and people. We have heard that a person is a universe of emotions, mind, energy, but do not appreciate it, we hurry to nowhere ...
Here and now - how quickly lined up my mind in those few sentences - written a series of letters and ready. At first glance it is, but it is not true! Not just a series of letters. These are perfect letters, part of a perfect alphabet - Bulgarian. Again you about these scripts, I'll tell you mine May 24 ?! Well, because thoughts and assessments come after the holiday ...
What are our letters? Another thing we do not really pay attention. We use them and so. And their story is so interesting ...

Tuesday, 26 Jul 2016 - Archeological Museum

The profession of archaeologist is a dream for many people, especially children. For them it is shrouded in mystique of the unknown, adventure to touch the ancient knowledge and luck to find a priceless artifact. But all this involves a lot of digging, coordination of a team and systematically follow a specific methodology of work.

The work of archaeologists you can see live by visiting the ancient and medieval site Aquae Calidae near the Burgas Mineral Baths in the coming days. The eponymous tourist complex offers specially built atrium where you can sit and watch the excavation of an ancient bath in safety. For the convenience of visitors next to the outdoor archaeological exposition works a coffee, and in the restored building of the bathroom of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, can learn more about the area's history from the interactive 3D projection on the beautiful dome.

At present the archaeological research in Aquae Calidae continues in the northern part of the site, which is designated for a museum. The excavations are conducted by Regional Historical Museum Burgas and are led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimcho Momtchilov of University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" Burgas, deputy head Miroslav Klasnakov from RHM Burgas and Yavor Rusev from RHM Yambol.
The team is examining the burned layers from IV-VI century at the depth of 4-6 meters from the current level. They are finding mainly pottery and coins from the time of Constantine the Great - the first Christian emperor.

On his way to the Black Sea, Frugal Traveler columnist Lucas Peterson stops through Haskovo, Bulgaria to attend the wedding of his cousin, Matthew Kwan, to Haskovo native Tanya Todorova.
Decided to combine the pleasant with the useful, he collected impressions of his trip around Bulgaria on a very economical budget. Once back to the US, Lucas wrote an article for the prestigious media sharing experiences and best moments in Bulgaria.
His travelogue is published under the title "By Bulgaria's Beautiful Black Sea".

When his journey came to Burgas, it goes through the Burgas museums. He wrote:
The archaeological museum in Burgas contains some fascinating Bronze Age artifacts, including the oldest marble statue found in Bulgaria. (Admission to the museum is 5 lev, and it’s only 10 lev for a combination ticket to visit all four museums in town.)
While I found few English speakers in Bulgaria generally, a woman working at the museum spoke some, and kindly walked me around town to show me the locations of the other museums. Most signage in Burgas is in Bulgarian, which uses the Cyrillic alphabet. Many businesses, however, especially those that cater to tourists, offer translations.
