For 15 years already, the last day of October marks the anniversary of the Strategic Action Plan on Protection and Conservation of the Black Sea. That's why October 31 was declared International Day of the Black Sea.
In recent years, there is a disturbing trend that the Black Sea ecosystem is highly vulnerable to impacts such as pollution, excessive fishing, unsustainable fishing and coastal development. All these threats can lead to the occurrence of irreversible changes that would transform life throughout the region.

On the occasion of the International Day of the Black Sea in the Natural History Museum (30 K. Fotinov st.) from 14:00 hours, we invite you to the opening of an exhibition containing paintings by students headed by Mrs. Dotka Kalacheva from the Burgas School " Cyril and Methodius".

Black Sea is a home of three dolphin species – the Common Dolphin, the Common Bottlenose Dolphin called Afalina and the Harbour Porpoise known in Bulgaria as Mutkur. They are all protected species and are very vulnerable to accidental entanglement in fishing nets and pollution.

Mr. Gradimir Gradev, who is an expert from the Federation of nature-conservation NGOs "Green Balkans", will hold a multimedia presentation under the title "Dolphins in the Black Sea and methods from their research." The lecture will begin at 14:30 in the hall of the Natural History Museum in Burgas.
