Regional Historical Museum - Burgas offers Free Admission on St. Nicholas Day

On the occasion of St. Nicholas Day (Nikulden), the patronal feast of Burgas, the Burgas Regional Historical Museum will welcome visitors with free admission to all four of its exhibitions. On 6 December, residents and visitors to the city will have the opportunity to explore the permanent displays, as well as visiting and thematic exhibitions.

At the Ethnographic Museum, located at 69 Slavyanska Street, visitors can see the exhibition “Coppersmithing – Ancient and Eternal,” which presents the rich tradition of the coppersmith’s craft, a variety of finely crafted copper vessels, and their use in everyday life.

At the History Museum, located at 31 Lermontov Street, visitors can explore the thematic exhibition “From Saint Nicholas to Santa Claus,” which traces how the image of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, gradually evolved into the modern figure of Santa Claus.

The Archaeological Museum, located at 21 Bogoridi Street, welcomes visitors with the exhibition “Memories of Antiquity. Leseskepra – the Priestess of Anchialos.” The exhibition presents the results of a rescue archaeological excavation carried out 50 years ago in the necropolis of ancient Anchialos.

At the Natural History Museum, located at 30 K. Fotinov Street, curious residents and visitors to the seaside city can discover “The Black Sea – Unique and Unknown.” The exhibition reveals the diversity of Black Sea flora and fauna and presents fascinating facts about the ecosystems of the Black Sea.

All four exhibitions of the Burgas Regional History Museum will be open with free admission on 6 December, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The traditional blessing of the St. Nicholas Day festive table will take place on 6 December at 11:00 a.m. in the garden next to the Clock, where the clergy of Burgas will bless the traditional festive table and the Mayor of Burgas will break the ceremonial St. Nicholas Day bread.
