Scientists from all over the world will discuss the digitalization of cultural and scientific heritage in Burgas

From 26 to 29 September 2024, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, under the patronage of UNESCO and with the support of the National Science Fund (KP-06-MNF/13/23.05.2024) and the Municipality of Burgas, organizes the Fourteenth International Conference "Digital Presentation and Preservation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage" - DiPP2024.
Traditionally, the organization of the event includes the Regional Academic Center of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences - Burgas, the Regional History Museum - Burgas, Burgas Free University, the Regional Library "Peyo Yavorov", Burgas. Burgas and the Burgas State University "Prof. A. Zlatarov" – Burgas.

The conference aims to present innovations, projects and scientific and applied developments in the field of digital documentation, archiving, presentation and preservation of world and national tangible and intangible cultural and scientific heritage. The main focus is on ensuring open access to digitized national cultural and scientific heritage and pursuing sustainable policies for its continued digital preservation and preservation. The new project of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics-BAS BG-RRP-2.011-0004 "Innovative software platform for serious educational games with creative visualization for building competence and responsible management of natural resources" (ProNature, https://pronature-project.math.bas.bg/) will be presented for the debut. The main objective of the project is to carry out research and develop new technological solutions on an innovative software platform for serious educational games with creative visualization with technological readiness level 7 (TRL 7) for building competence for natural ecosystems, responsible management of natural resources and environmental protection. The Burgas lake ecosystem has been chosen as a natural base in this project due to its exceptional biodiversity, the most significant protected natural complex with a concentration of waterfowl on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The project is financed under Contract No RRP-2 of 27.05.2024 /BG-RRP-2.011-0004-C01/ by the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) in implementation of investment C2. I2 "Increasing the innovation capacity of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the field of green and digital technologies" of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, with an instrument of the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
The prestigious scientific event DiPP2024 will be opened on September 26, 2024 at 13:00 at the Regional Library "Peyo Yavorov", Sofia. Burgas. Side events:
─ 15th National Information Day "Open Science, Open Data, Open Access, Bulgarian Open Science Cloud", partially supported by project DO1-325/01.12.2023 by the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures and the National Center for High Performance and Distributed Computing.
─ 3rd information day "Research Infrastructure Services in the Humanities and Social Sciences", organized by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics – BAS to present the scientific results achieved under the project "National Interdisciplinary Research E-Infrastructure for Resources and Technologies for Bulgarian Linguistic and Cultural Heritage, Integrated within the European Infrastructures CLARIN and DARIAH (CLaDA-BG)" and the research project South Slavic copyists and scriptories from the XIV century (paleographic attribution and online repertory) (No KP-06-N50/4 30.11.2020) of the National Science Fund, etc.
