Monument for Russian soldiers died in 1878 at the first mili

The monument is situated in place of a previously existed Russian military infirmary created by Alexandra Lermontova, the daughter of Colonel Lermontov. In May 1879 she came to Burgas with the 4th Army Corps lead by the famous General Skobelev. Here A. Lermontova assisted the training of medical personnel; the establishment of a new hospital and purchased the medical equipment from her own funds.
Russian soldiers from the 24th infantry Division erected this monument in memory of their comrades from 93rd Irkutsk and 94th Yenisei infantry regiment, who died from cholera and typhus at the end of the Russo Turkish War (1877 – 1878).
