"90 Years in 90 Photos. The Monument of Freedom – A Journey Through Time"

On February 6, on the occasion of the liberation of Burgas, the exhibition "90 Years in 90 Photos: The Monument of Freedom – A Journey Through Time" will be opened at the Historical Museum starting at 12:00 PM. The retrospective exhibition, presented through photographs and thematic objects, is hosted by the National Park Museum "Shipka-Buzludja." Ninety years ago, on August 26, 1934, the Monument of Freedom was solemnly inaugurated. The ceremony of its unveiling became one of the most memorable events in modern Bulgarian history. In the presence of thousands of people, Prime Minister Kimon Georgiev, members of the government, the Bulgarian spiritual, political, and military elite, and the diplomatic corps, Tsar Boris III inaugurated the monument with an inspiring speech. "On the occasion of the anniversary, we decided to tell the story of the Monument in 90 photos. They are just a small part of our rich collection, gathered over the years," share the exhibition's creators.
“On the occasion of the anniversary, we decided to tell the story of the Monument through 90 photographs. They are just a small part of our rich collection, gathered over the years,” share the authors of the exhibition. “The camera lenses have captured beautiful mountain landscapes, celebrations, festivities and official visits, parades and productions, public events, repairs and restorations. What connects our photos is the thousands of people who keep coming here over the years – Bulgarians from all over our country and from distant places around the world, children, young and old; they continue to climb the cherished hill to recall that lesson in patriotism bequeathed to us by the heroes of Shipka.”The exhibition can be viewed at the Historical Museum (31 Lermontov Street) until the end of March.
